I want to share with you my thoughts on a product that's not a recent find, but a staple in my makeup routine for quite some time - Jouer Cosmetics Soft Focus Pressed Setting Powder. Despite being on the market for a few years and bagging prestigious awards like Allure's Best of Beauty in 2019 and the Beauty Innovation Awards' Powder Product of the Year, it remains my trusted solution for a flawless, shine-free T-zone.

The Difference is Changing How, Where, and Why You Use a Setting Powder 

Even when I don’t want to wear foundation, which is often the case, a little bit of Soft Focus can do the trick. With added bonuses of hydrating your skin, never drying, or turning cakey, Soft Focus Pressed Setting Powder also does a great job blurring the pores. 

Setting powder is not needed all over your face – just the T-Zone. Too much powder can lie in fine lines and wrinkles if not used sparingly at this time in our life. Use a setting spray instead at the end if it's got to last you all day.  Revlon makes a good one - 3-Second Setting Mist. It dries almost immediately. No fanning or waiting required.

Gravity and Pores: It's Real

Did you know that gravity plays an important role in causing larger pores? Yes, some people naturally have them, but as we grow older gravity begins pulling them down, enlarging them. Ugh!  And just another reason to be consistent with your cleansing routine. Larger pores make for larger blackheads.

How to Use It 

Here’s a quick guide on how to incorporate Jouer Soft Focus into your beauty routine. 

Gone are the days that I used my huge fluffy powder blush for application. 

1. I have found the BK Beauty fluffy 108 Precision Powder Brush to be just the right size for the T-Zone and applying just the right amount of powder. If you’d prefer, or if you have a smaller face, use a fluffy blending brush that’s similar in shape.

2. Ever so lightly, I twirl the end of the brush in the compact, and tap it off on the lid until there’s nothing left flying off. I always think it’s not going to be enough.

3. Tap it across my forehead and down the top of my nose. Then lightly over the area below the cheekbones next to either side of the nostrils - (my worst nightmare area), and lastly a few pats on the chin.  This powder takes care of the pores like they've never existed. And that’s all she wrote! 😉
