Westman Atelier - Lip Suede Matte Lipstick Review
About the first week of March, I purchased a Westman Atelier Lip Suede Matte Lipstick in Minx-Blooming Peony, because it was just that hard for me to resist this color - and I already love their creamy Face Trace Contour Stick. The pigmentation of the Lip Suede is rich and gives a powerfully long-wearing color for the lips, ensuring the color stays put for an impressive duration. The attribute that really impressed me, however, was how it resisted feathering into my lip lines—hence another valued quality in our quest for refined, mature beauty. Even luxurious to hold: there is a weightiness in my hand speaking more about the quality than any other bullet lipstick might.
The hearts on the lipstick add a touch of whimsy, though it's the cap that truly stands out. Ingeniously designed with a magnetic mirror, it snaps securely onto the lipstick, safeguarding against those all-too-familiar mishaps of lost caps and ruined lipsticks.
Luscious ingredients
But let's delve deeper into what makes this lipstick more than just a pretty case. Over a full month of daily use later, I’m thrilled to report that the formula does not dry out my lips. As someone who often leans towards balmy textures and has been cautious about matte finishes, especially considering my mature lips, this lipstick is a revelation. It’s enriched with peptides, Hyaluronic Acid in three sizes, vitamins C and E, and featuring the innovative Hydro Suede Technology. This fusion not only colors but cares for your lips.
If You’re Already Prone to Dry Lips
In this world of social media, there's been a bit of talk about this formula's potential for dryness, but here's a secret: after my nightly cleansing routine, I apply a tiny amount of Lanolin Nipple Cream to my lips. This habit that I learned from Dominique Sachse on YouTube a few years past, has been an innovative way to stop dry, parched lips particularly when I lived in the high desert. Right on the tube it reads 100% natural, safe for baby, soothes and protects. With only one high quality ingredient, ethically sourced and certified climate neutral. The tube lasts a very long time. This is an old solution to an old problem, but nothing works as well as lanolin for me. The brand I use is made by Lansinoh and can be found at most drugstores or Target for somewhere around $9 to $12.
If needed, to ensure the best experience with Lip Suede, I recommend applying the thinnest layer of lanolin as a base. However, it’s a personal and unique option, so always choose what makes you feel confident and beautiful, - if you’re lips are not already dry, don ‘t bother. 💋
As we already know, at our age beauty isn't about following trends, but about finding what works for each of us. This lipstick is a testament to that philosophy, offering both style and substance for the mature, discerning woman.
