I miss the days of being able to waltz into any drugstore, pick up the first concealer I laid my eyes on that was the right shade, and be on my merry way. No fuss, no muss. It was as if my skin welcomed any product with open pores. Those days are long gone. How naïve I was to take those days for granted. It’s like when you look back at old photos and think, “Why was I so critical of my appearance? I looked great!” As I stand here now at the somewhat wise age of 63, I’ve found that finding the perfect under eye concealer has been a journey. A journey filled with trial, error, and an array of concealers that have left me looking more like a raccoon than a radiant mature woman.
The Struggle is Real
Fast forward a few decades, and things have changed. Mature skin has its own set of rules and regulations, and it demands respect. The concealers that once effortlessly brightened my under-eye area now seem to accentuate every fine line and wrinkle. I’ve tried countless products that promised to be the perfect concealer, only to be disappointed. The Quest for Perfection
My journey to find Real Flawless Weightless Perfecting Concealer under-eye concealer has been long and arduous. There have been moments of hope, followed by disappointment. I’ve tried high-end brands, drugstore options, and everything in between. I’ve read reviews, watched tutorials, and even consulted with makeup artists. Despite all this, I often found myself staring in the mirror, frustrated by the products that promised so much but delivered so little. And the money wasted! That is why I started this blog. There have to be other ladies out there who face the same issues! Yet, we have been overlooked and silent about it.

After clearing out my makeup table, I had six concealers left in the drawer, with only one currently being used regularly, (YSL Touche Eclat High Cover Radiant Concealer), but I have to do a lot of moisturizing and color correcting with it, and for that matter all of them. The rest are used for post-menopausal thin skin marks or age spots. Yes, I use Vitaman C serum for my face, but I’m speaking of my body.
In my 60’s the under eyes are trickier than in my 40’s. That cakey-splotchiness comes on a lot more quickly than it did back then. I do my morning ritual of cleansing and moisturizing, paying special attention to the under eye area, with Caffeine Serum from The Ordinary and a light moisturizer. Too much and it seems like most concealers breakdown and wear off. It’s hard to get the balance just right. When we lived in the high desert, I had to use a heavy moisturizer, and add a drop of Hyaluronic acid to a primer, wait 10 minutes between each layer before applying color corrector and concealer. Depending on how dry the air was on any given day, I would apply a second application of under eye moisturizer. Tedious, to say the least.
I have finally found an under eye concealer that works for my mature puffy under eye area. I have done a myriad of reviews and tested many products, but this is the first time I believe a concealer has earned a spot to be recommended on this blog. I’ve been looking for a breakthrough in concealers that the rest of science has made with skincare and makeup. It’s here.
The shade match, 2w1, is near perfect for my light to medium skin tone, because I like to go a shade lighter for brightening the under eye area.
I love the natural finish and it provides enough coverage for my dark circles. Laura Mercier claims the product not only minimizes the appearance of under eye darkness instantly, but over time as well. The company makes great products, so I have no reason to doubt the claim. I’m looking forward to that!

I know my eyes are not what they used to be, but even in the 20x magnifying mirror, I can see no caking, creasing or breaking down of the product - not even after wearing all day.

How to Use
Real Flawless is a buildable concealer and gives a natural finish. What that translates to is start out with less than you think you’ll need and add a little at a time.
It’s a creamy serum and I use my finger, not even a brush. A sponge will soak up to much of this magical concoction. It does set quickly, so I do one eye at a time. A dot on the inner and outer corners, and if needed that day, a little where the darkness is greater. Then finish by gently using the warmth of your fingertip to press and create a seamless finish.
You may still want to finish with the tiniest bit of a brightening powder like Prism Libre Setting & Finishing Loose Powder or LM Translucent Loose Talc-Free Setting Powder Ultra-Blur. Press the brush or the puff into the palm of your hand to remove the excess before applying. Tap gently onto eye area with a blending brush or press gently with a puff.
