There is no Fountain of Youth. Now that we’ve begun with that undeniable truth, let’s dive into this.
When I started using the Peter Thomas Roth Instant FIRMx Eye Temporary Eye Tightener, I had just watched a video where a 40-something year old woman was talking about her thyroid condition and how she had hooded eyelids ever since and it seemed to be getting worse. I started to choke up. I purchased it the same day. I’ve since then used the Instant FIRMx Face Tightener and now the Peter Thomas Roth Instant FIRMx No-Filter Primer which is the same as the Face Tightener but with a primer and a little bit of color.
Who doesn’t want to look their best?
You see, 8 years before that was my nephew’s high school graduation, and our family flew across country to have a family reunion and honor his big day. I remember the day we arrived, and my sister looked at me and said, Hol you have thyroid eyes. Even so, we all had a wonderful visit and went home. I saw my primary and asked for tests. Since I had taken thyroid meds for years, I thought it was one of those simple things that my Grandma had, as long as I took my pill every day, it was under control. It wasn’t. Life did go on - thankfully - but I needed something for my stretched out, hooded lids.

The Good
The good news is that both products work as skin tighteners. So, if you’re going out somewhere special and want that little extra oomph – this is the product that might do it for you. But be warned that it doesn’t sustain a lot on top of it. I wait about a half hour before adding my makeup and I use it sparingly. I concentrate mostly on eyeliner and lipstick, and powder like Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette.
Peter Thomas Roth says on the website that each individual will have varied results.
I wear them alone for the most part.
The Bad
This is a temporary and short term fix. As in “hours temporary”. No miracles expected here. I like mixing a little of the Eye Tightener and Face Tightener for spot places that need a little extra, like around my lips and crow’s feet. If you just put on extra of the Eye Tightener alone, you may get a dried white powder that you’ll have to get off with a cotton swab.
The tint doesn’t show up on my skin. I am fair to medium skin tone. More choices would be great.
I was not impressed with the Primer claim of the Peter Thomas Roth Instant FIRMx No-Filter Primer, but I forsake all other primers for Allies of Skin - The One - SPF50. However, FIRMx it is a great skin tightener!

However, to be fair there has been an issue with fraudulent sellers. Look into the reviews and people mostly love it or hate it. There are warnings on the PTR website that the product has been fraudulently sold. Where? It doesn’t say. It does say to purchase the products on their website or at one of their authorized retailers. Check the back of the product tube for “Dist. by: ©PETERTHOMASROTH® Labs LLC” and a 7-digit number, e.g., 22-01-357”.
